WRITING A COVER LETTER

Dear {Receiver} I’m so very sorry for what happened the other day. You know me: I would never intentionally do something like that if I knew that it would end up being a {hurtful, embarrassing, awkward, etc…} situation. I can’t say what made me do something so silly. Perhaps I just have a very flawed sense of humor or my terrible read of situations. Whatever the cause for my bad behavior, it was inexcusable. Hopefully, this will be one of things we look back to and laugh. Until then, I’m willing to do everything I can to make it up to you! Dear  I am so very sorry for what I did to you. I realize now (and should have realized then) how much pain and suffering this has caused you. If I could change the past and take back what I {said/did}, I would. But “if,”, “would,” and “could” are things I could only hope for. What I can do is try to mend the damage that I have done and hope that you can find it in your heart to forgive me. As a start, I can promise you that I won’t ever recklessly misplace your love and affection again. It was wrong, stupid, and immature of me to do what I did. And now that I see how much my actions have hurt you, I know that I can’t bear to see you unhappy. Dear -----,  I let my fears ruin our friendship, our bond, and the best relationship I ever had. I have been thinking a lot about what I've done and how I have acted toward the break up and I was extremely immature. When you commit a mistake and hurt someone who is very close to your heart, then you should feel it and express your apologies.
